Our first stop after the West End was going to be in the Berry Islands (~95nm from West End). They looked great on the map and seemed fun to explore on our way to the Exumas. On NoForeignland we found out that the same type of boat as ours was anchored there with two similar-aged kids on board. Reason enough to contact them and head straight towards them (actually Ela had been in contact with them weeks earlier already). Even though the anchorage was a bit exposed, the sand-flats right behind it were breath-taking, with shallow water, turquoise and white colors, mangroves and turtles, rays and sharks. Little did we know that this first stop was one of our greatest in the Bahamas and that the family we had met was going to be our all-time best Bahamas friend-boat, whoop whoop to Puff the Magic Dragon with Joshua, Cyndi, Abby and Juliette. After our sandflat stop, we went to Soldier Key where we made picknicks at the beach, observed conchs and made beach-fires with our boat-neighbors. On the technical side, we got the watermaker running, which also enables us to do laundry, and the drone has been launched. We have arrived in the Bahamas and are in the spirit!
