And off we went! After the last missing suitcase arrived, we started heading North again to start our two weeks family adventure in the Exumas. Knowing that my sister and family weren’t used to sailing much, we planned a smooth start which would get us to the turquoise waters of the Exuma bank as quickly as possible. Our first anchorage was at Lee Stocking, a mostly private island with still some accessible beaches. The weather also decided that it would be best to stay there a few days, since moving further north involved changing sides and sailing on the rougher “Exuma Sound” part of the island chain. This was convenient, as it allowed us to do some treasure-hunting, improve our coconut-opening skills and discover some of the mostly uninhabited parts of the island. The two families were slowly getting into the cruiser’s groove.
